Trusting in His Promises

The End and the Beginning Lately I’ve been feeling anxious. Not the fearful kind of anxiety but the hopeful. I feel like our family is standing on the precipice of our future but with no clear view or knowledge of what it holds. Last week was Eddie’s last day of academic classes here at ACU. It’s joyful because it means we made it. Our family survived two years of intense schooling and compiled tons of student debt. As grueling as that may sound for some, I can honestly look around and be truly thankful and dare I say richly blessed … Continue reading Trusting in His Promises

Where to go?

“Anyone who willingly enters into the pain of a stranger is truly a remarkable person.” -Henri J. M. Nouwen While anxiously awaiting this evening to cheer on the Astros in the 6th World Series game between them and the Dodgers. I am reflecting back over this past weekend when we were down visiting friends and family while working at my mom’s house in Spring, TX. Many of those we saw had  questions of where we will be when Eddie is finished with his program in the next nine months. And we don’t know. The wonder and anticipation is like a … Continue reading Where to go?

Reaching for the Cleft of the Rock

A year has passed, rather quickly, since we moved here to Abilene. A rollercoaster of emotions, trials, blessings and challenges that have weaved us through these past months causing us to lean in to our faith and each other, more than ever before. Before we set our hearts and minds on Abilene, we spent much of our time dreaming of a life in Colorado. There is a deep longing and desire to lead hurting hearts into the wilderness of God’s creation and allow Him to guide, grow and heal in the midst of all His wonder. We’ve have been honored … Continue reading Reaching for the Cleft of the Rock

Summer 2017

Well it’s been a long time since we’ve posted anything, and we hope to remedy that over the next few months. It’s been a long few months adjusting to our new lives in Abilene, TX. Megan is working hard at her job at the Student Rec. and loving it, what a blessing her boss and co-workers have been. I’m plugging away at my Masters in Marriage & Family Therapy degree (I completed the Masters in Christian Ministry in December). I’m also working a couple of part-time jobs on campus including coordinating the Graduate School Chapel & recently getting certified as … Continue reading Summer 2017

Boyer’s Christmas News

May you be blessed with the spirit of the season, which is peace. The gladness of the season, which is hope. And the heart of the season, which is love. -Author Unknown   Well it’s hard to believe that it has been 6 months since we moved here to Abilene, TX!  It has been a pretty smooth transition despite a few bumps here and there. Overall, we have a lot to praise God for. Slowly but surely we are beginning to feel at home in this small (no traffic!) town. After we moved, Eddie spent the next 6 weeks in … Continue reading Boyer’s Christmas News

Freedom on the Trail

“Almighty God, who sent the Spirit of truth to me to guide me into all truth: so rule my life by your power that I may be truthful in thought and word and deed. May no fear or hope ever make me false in act or speech; cast out from me whatsoever loves or makes a lie, and bring me into the perfect freedom of your truth, through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Brooke Foss Westcott The wind is gusting so powerfully that I’m struggling to stand straight as I follow behind our line of hikers weaving our way to the … Continue reading Freedom on the Trail

Here We Go! Part 2

Well the word is out. The Boyers are headed to Abilene, TX for the Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy program. This is undoubtedly a big move for us and our family. I came to Houston for the first time in the summer of 1998 for a youth ministry internship with Spring Woodlands Church of Christ. I went back to school my senior year knowing that I was different, but unaware of what God had in store for me. Fast forward to early spring of ’99. and I received a phone call from Dave Gibbs and Travis Bryant asking if … Continue reading Here We Go! Part 2

This is just the beginning…

We are in the waiting…the hard and silent wait. The long, long months (even years) after hearing the promise of the Lord over our future. Yet, we are now having to walk through the desert to get there, or sometimes stay exactly where we are (which can be even more difficult). Like Abram and Sarai being called to a new land, to the unknown, into the trust. To trust the Lord with all we have. To fully rely on His plan and not our own. To start walking in faith, into the wilderness and entwining our future in the spoken promise … Continue reading This is just the beginning…
